Idhant Mittal is a 12th-grade student at The International School Bangalore where he studies English, Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Math, and Hindi. Idhant is extremely passionate about mechanical engineering and wants to use his passion for good. He wants to study robotics or material science where he will focus on assistive technology. The Accessible School Network was born out of this passion and Idhant’s drive to do something for this community that most people forget about.
In school, Idhant is part of his robotics club where he contributes to projects and takes part in competitions. He is also on the organizing committee for the inter-school math competition organized by TISB students called Pi-thon where he handles the communications. Idhant has taken several science exams and has participated in numerous programs which have strengthened his understanding of engineering and robotics.
Along with The Accessible Schools Network, Idhant has also spearheaded Rags to Bags, an initiative that targets sustainability as well as social upliftment. The project upcycles the waste generated during the process of garment creation, while simultaneously empowering women working in the garment industry by offering extra opportunities for economic upliftment through the creation and sale of bags and crafts. The handiwork of these women is displayed at trade shows, where interested parties can place orders.
